Friends, I’d like to start with a giant thank you. You may not know this, but author careers and livelihoods are made and broken from Black Friday to around December 23. That’s when the vast bulk of books are sold in the U.S. It’s been a great holiday - all because of you!

I especially loved the many A Booze & Vinyl Christmas posts. If you’re following on Instagram, you’ve been seeing all the special reels that folks have created surrounding their favorite albums. Such holiday cheer!

If you’re on social, you’ve also seen I’ve been in Colombia for the the end of ‘24. We spent December in Medellín and Cartagena. It was partly a working trip - I’m doing research plus working on edits for Booze & Vinyl Country.

The artwork for the next book - which we shot in Philadelphia this past fall - is jaw-dropping. I am so excited to share this new one with you. I’m heading back to the US this week to begin preparing the tour (starting Oct ‘25). Tour cities will be announced this summer.

I was also, of course, drinking through Colombia’s artful cocktail scenes. More on that later.

New Years Anti-Resolutions: Life is hard enough. This year, I resolved to take it easier and to not make resolutions.

PLAYLIST

Start the new year with some new music! Every year I put together a playlist of songs that I run into that I simply must hear again. 2024 was a bit of a weird one — I listened to country music the entire year. As in, every single day. That listening bled into this playlist some, but the net is still wide and there are serious gems in here - from artists who have only a couple hundred listeners a month (and deserve more) to giants.

For the past couple of months, I’ve been in the middle of negotiations for a new book - so if things get a little quiet it is because I’m tidying my desk and putting other projects aside for when it comes in. This is what it is set so far:
